Network and Security Engineer required to implement complex network solutions, with responsibility for implementation, verification and documentation of solution. Consults with and reviews the work of other engineers in related project areas.

• Experience of managed services/web hosting environment.

It would be beneficial if you have any of the below qualifications:

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
• Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
• Understanding of networking and security product best practices. Capable of debugging and resolving complex network problems.
• Works together with the solutions design team to provide technical review and feedback on critical project input documentation. The resulting architecture and networks are scaleable and adaptable enough to evolve with changing customer requirements.
• Provide technical support and guidance to Project Managers, to support the implementation of new hosting services.
• Provide technical impact assessments
• Lead virtual teams of Implementation Engineers to deliver new Hosting services.
• Develop peer relationships with customers and external vendors.

Energy engineers of the future

What is an EngD?

• Lasts for four years
• Provides a stipend of up to £20,000, much higher than a traditional PhD
• Provides an extensive period of time to conduct basic research in industry (approx. three years)
• Will equip research engineers for high-level careers in the energy sector

Why do an EngD?

The EngD is particularly suited to anyone with an interest in the future of power generation who is keen to tackle the major national and international challenges associated with the implmentation of new power plant that will:

• Generate electricity more efficiently
• Use fossil energy with near-zero emissions
• Successfully demonstrate CO2 capture
• Reduce CO2 emissions (from coal utilisation)
• Industrial involvement

Research engineers will spend time working closely with a number of industrial sponsors. Throughout years two to four, they will pursue a research project based at one of the sponsor organisations whilst receiving supervision, guidance and ongoing tuition from the universities.

Applicants will need either a First Class or Upper Second Class Honours degree in a relevant subject such as Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental or Materials Engineering, Chemical Sciences, Physics or Mathematics.

Financial Support

Financial support will be awarded competitively on a merit basis. The minimum award for successful Home/EU applicants will be a full tuition fee bursary. UK students will also normally be awarded a 3 year maintenance grant at the standard EPSRC stipend (currently £12,940), with corresponding standard EPSRC increases in subsequent years.

Successful applicants from outside the EU will normally receive a minimum of a tuition fee bursary at the difference between the ‘Home/EU' and the ‘Overseas' tuition fees (currently £8,270).

Person Specification :

The successful applicant should have a first class or upper second class honours degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.
