Lancaster University is at the forefront of networking developments. We are looking for an enthusiastic, high calibre appointee who is educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline and has extensive networking experience to join the group supporting the high-speed networks at the University and JANET(UK) funded Cumbria and North Lancashire MAN (CANLMAN).

You will be expected to take part in and/or assume responsibility for evaluation, planning, installation, commissioning, supporting and de-commissioning IT network services both on and off campus. You will also monitor and report on these services with a view to continual service improvement. You will provide appropriate organisational support to ensure that service levels are achieved.

You should have an avid interest in computer networks, a logical approach to problem solving, planning and good interpersonal communications skills. Knowledge of TCP/IP, communications media and networking equipment are essential. Ongoing training will be provided.

Appointment will be to the Grade 7 scale (£33,577 - £38,632, inclusive of annual allowance for required rota work and out of hours cover) at a level that reflects your experience. This post carries the usual index-linked USS benefits which is a final salary based pension scheme.
